Actic sells its business in Germany and Austria to Injoy

Swedish fitness chain Actic takes a step back. The Scandinavian company has signed an agreement with the German company Injoy, a subsidiary of Aciso Holding, to sell the 22 German and Austrian clubs that the company operated up to now. According to the purchase agreement, the transfer of the shares is scheduled for March 23, 2023.
After the operation, Actic Fitness will sell its subsidiary to Injoy, which will affect 22 clubs. The Swedish gym chain wants to use the freed up resources to focus on developing its home markets. On the other hand, as Injoy has detailed, “both current and new customers will benefit from new combinations on the German-speaking fitness market.”
Injoy is one of the leading German-speaking fitness and health franchise chains, 100% owned by Aciso Holding, which operates 130 centers in Germany and Austria. For its part, Actic was founded in Sweden in 1981 and is one of the main chains of gyms in Europe, with some 150 clubs in four countries. With the acquisition, the Injoy brand association grows to 22 clubs, almost 21,000 members and 256 employees.
Actic has a net turnover of SEK 750 million
“Germany is an interesting market, but it is very different from Sweden and Norway, both in terms of size and consumer behaviour; By selling our German clubs and the independent Austrian club to the Injoy brand, we are freeing up both financial and administrative resources to increase focus and accelerate the development of our local markets,” said Anna Eskhult, CEO of Actic Group.
“Being a part of Injoy is something I particularly appreciate given that we are already quite similar in terms of how we work with our members and our quality standards,” said Actic Fitness CEO Martin Arent. “We will continue to optimize this focus on subscriber experience and outcome, and I look forward to the new part of our journey and development, as well as further strengthening our services and positioning,” he added.
Actic is one of the leading operators of wellness facilities in the Nordic countries, focusing on small and medium-sized cities. The group has 152 facilities and 184,000 members in Sweden, Norway, Germany and Austria. Actic, based in Solna, Stockholm, has approximately 600 full-time employees and a 2022 net turnover of SEK 750 million (€66.1 million).
