Activate Games, an indoor gaming facility that enables teams of up to five participants to immerse themselves in a live action arcade game, is coming to the Houston market in late 2023. The company has leased 9,600 square feet at Katy Freeway Center, 20225-20235 Katy Freeway. Michael Burgower and Eric Lestin of Cushman & Wakefield represented the tenant. Dianne Rummage of SClay Management represented the landlord. With locations in Tennessee and Kentucky, Activate offers a wide selection of games, each lasting one to three minutes, and tracks scores though electronic wristbands.
DUO Houston, a café and fitness studio owned by husband-and-wife Marcus and Karman Lovely, will open a second area location in Autry Park, a mixed-use development at Shepherd and West Dallas across from Buffalo Bayou Park. Spanning 4,200 square feet on the first floor of the Hanover Parkview apartments, the location will have two fitness studios and a café space with indoor and outdoor seating for 65. The fitness area includes a Pilates studio and a spin theater that can accommodate 42 people. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner this fall, the cafe will offer specialty coffee, smoothies, a full bar and kitchen. DUO opened on Westheimer near Kirby Drive in 2021. Autry Park is a development of Hanover Co. in partnership with Lionstone Investments and Rebees.

Lucchese Bootmaker opened a 4,000-square-foot store in Baybrook Mall. The store, which features Lucchese’s first custom hat bar, sells Western cowboy boots and casual footwear, accessories, leather goods and men’s and women’s apparel. Customers can design boots that will be handcrafted in El Paso. A grand opening will be held April 1.
The Orangetheory Fitness Afterburn franchise announced the opening of a studio at 7205 Fannin near the Texas Medical Center. The 3,425-square-foot facility is the company’s 24th studio in Houston. Orangetheory Fitness is a one-hour class focused on heartrate-based interval training.
Club Champion, a custom golf club fitter based in Willowbrook, Ill., opened a fitting studio at 4417 Kingwood Drive in Kingwood. The 3,000-square-foot store is Club Champion’s eighth location in Texas. Club Champion fits, sells and builds custom golf clubs and sells Callaway, TaylorMade, Ping, Titleist, Cobra, Fujikura and Golf Pride clubs.
