People watching from East Asia or Western Europe simply do not understand the cultural problem.
The people completely lack empathy for one another. There is no teamwork in Africa.
The mindset is always the survival of the individual not the survival of the community.

Africa has beaten Covid 19. The "experts" predicted virtual demise and extinction of Africans – from Melinda Gates, WHO, EU, USA, UN, CDC, NIH and other alphabet organizations. But guess what, when digging a grave for others, dig it wider because you will also fall a victim. It's believe in and worship of the One and Only All Mighty God. Just keep planning evil for Africa, that evil will end up consuming you instead.

Africa is doing better now, and will do it better in the future, i´m an economist from Spain, things improve really slow i understand the frustration there are no magic solution and i see a lot of ignorants european about economic history, even in 1800 most of the people in europe had a life expectancy of 30 years, in some places they did not name their children until they were 1 year old or more. Poverty has been the norm throughout history, and the difficult thing is to get out of the poverty trap, however, even on a more populated planet poverty has been reduced decade by decade, both in absolute and relative levels.

The West has not seen migration. By the time this is over the main migration will begin. The world will be divided between extremely rich countries and extremely poor countries. This pandemic has made most people loose the small hope they had in this continent. The West should start issuing travel ban the our corrupt dictators and their children. They start confisticating all the money and properties stolen from this continent and use the money for scholarship for African students. Please dont send it back to our leaders they will just steal it again. The West should consider telling African leaders to fix its electoral system by electronic voting as a criteria for loan. I am planing to leave this country, I cant imagine being ruled by an old senile illiterate bigoted monster that is taken my country back to the 60s. Only God know who he will hand over power to by 2023.

Obviously the land set aside for future development isnt going to be put to use because of the downturn of the economies of that region due to corona virus. So why get tough beating and evicting people off land that will not be used until well after the virus is gone. So until then..WORK! out a verbal and written agreement to occupying tenants which clearly states these terms. Next problem please.

Thank you for this. The scenario in cape town plays out all over South Africa, I suppose.
The emergency policies regarding covid have really wrecked havoc.
I have never seen so much desparation.I look after my mother's property in a little town that has grown from 600 people to 60000 people in the last thirty years. The growth had been characterised by deprivation and corruption, but the progress has been solid. The town is now considered a migration hub, with the target being johannesburg for many people.

Most countries in Africa didn't need to do anything in the face of this pandemic. It really is tragic how the overreaction is going to kill way more people than the disease, not to mention remove several magnitudes more life-years.

So let me get this straight, the reason why 400k people are on the waiting list for social housing is not because of the predatory capitalism and exploitation from the wealthy elites, nor it is due to underfunding of the social fabric. It is due to people who "push at the front", right, seems correct. 🤦

How is it their fault when German coffee companies literally kick people off their own land, Burn down their house and farm. And then kills all their cattle. When they beg for just a cow and a few chickens to feed their kids they are denied their own belongings.

For what? A German company to build a damn farm to grow coffee beans.

Yes the lockdown is worse than the virus but some agency (was it WHO?) said back in February or March that the mortality rate of shutting things down would be about a 10:1 ratio for those who would die from the consequences of shut down. They predicted this but did it anyways. It was planned!

    Same old story
    Africans starving 1000 years ago
    Africans starving 500 years ago
    Africans starving 200 years ago
Africans starving on the XX century
    Africans starving today
I think it's time for Africa to start realizing that maybe they are the source of its own problems.
