when tourism starts again maybe close some public old toilets, have higher cleaning procedures and if someone smells who comes on a coach (do not let them on) have paid pay as you go showers at stations and pop up shops at stations, airports which gives hand gel for example (where can people go to relax if locked (holidays, visiting family, study, work, funerals, weddings, exploring etc) wedding invitations abroad?volunteering to look after elephants for example, festivals abroad? day trips to belgium?
hen weekends? ibiza, etc come on we need to move forward slowly to improve this problem, it can improve more spaces on beaches? disinfecting? staggered visiting hours of museums? cafe seating spread out? more seating outside? stricter cleaning of swimming pools and seating areas, higher standard of looking after animals in UK and abroad, the list goes on …

The whole world downplayed the virus until it was too late. China's low death rate numbers and assurances of no human to human transmission gave the world a false sense of security. And the WHO told us that travel bans would not help, so, it is China and the WHO that downplayed the virus; the rest of us just believed them…which was dumb. China's handling of the outbreak needs to be investigated to ensure it never happens again.

Thank you DW News… Tourists main points are museums, local river cruise, concert halls, theatre, packed restaurants & bars. …I think it is time to change global culture habits by “wearing masks” (even homemake one acceptable)…Once have this habit can prevent the second wave or any virus transmission. Of course, might not to open beaches! … Mask can prevent virus transmission, so there is better less chance to mix the virus globally. Thus, less chance for future lockdown for any nations due to travel.

tourism has become a terrible thing all around the world: it is massive and fast-food-like with millions of ignorant visitors crowding historic places or fragile natural wonders… causing environmental damage or social problems. I welcome this pause to reform some attitudes of the tourism industry and perhaps the end of a large chunk of it- I hope the cruise lines go under and the cheap city hopping tours, not to mention Airbnb. Countries should encourage more local tourism and more sustainable models.

It's amazing that you pass images from Portugal and Spain together while talking about Spain. Is geography forgotten or it's just laziness? Reporting real news is also about representing time and places correctly.

They can jump in the lake when it is all over. They outright refuse to reimburse the hotel I paid for. Travel insurance doesn't cover pandemics and it is my fault I didn't show up. The governments shut the borders and the place was in lock down. Even if I had wanted to I could't come. Ethics and decency has flown out of the window in Europe. I stay in my adopted country Australia in future an expensive lesson.Staggering losses? They were paid OK as they want money up front. People hopefully think twice before they come. The Europeans possibly getting fed up too with demanding tourists.

The way things are going, DO NOT EXPECT IT HAPPENING UNTIL SUMMER 2021… COVID-19 proved, that no matter how big a country is, none of us are ready for the future. Speaking of power – where those countries went? One good thing happened – developed world got the lesson on how it feels for restricting individuals from poor countries to get a visa to visit those countries.

Our local beaches have had a 'soft' opening. You can visit, swim, bike, surf, jog, walking along and maintain social distance of 6' BUT NOT sit, gathering in groups, picnic, linger in one place. Always have to be moving and maintain social distance. AND…the police are constantly on patrol to warn and/or ticket persistent violators! Seems to work pretty good.
