I'm cautiously optimistic about the E.U.'s fiscal and monetary futures. While is too optimistic, I think the E.U. can further become more integrated and prosper, provided that it and its member states can deal with their troubling eastern members. Economies can be restructured, but it's difficult to reverse the march towards authoritarianism the longer it goes on.

Why, why, why di we keep the EU going? Eastern and southern Europe blackmail us in doing their bidding. We, the hard working people in the north, are the suckers left with the bill. Do we keep paying for the parties in the south and the corruption in the east?

I am impressed that a deal between 27 member states could be made so quickly. However, this trend around the world of governments assuming debt and borrowing money which must be paid back by small people and future generations is a BAD idea.

So, my proposal: Every country which is itself investigated can't vote in another country's matter. Simple as that. Therefore, Poland could not block Hungary and vice-versa.

EU is doing a lot better in terms of human rights, environment and public health than its counterparts- UK, USA, Russia, Turkey, Gulf States etc. For all its faults, most Europeans accept that EU is the best way forward, for some reason USA and Russia etc do not like the idea of a politically strong, prosperous and united Europe.

Unbelievable. We don't even know when to start.
Italy – once again, one of the few net contributors to the EU- may have a high level of public debt, but it has the highest level of private savings in the Eurozone. Italians are "frugal", Italians are not sitting around wasting money. Italians, in general are industrious, hardworking, creative , and altruistic. Please let us end this negative, separatist narrative.

for the EU, the chickens will come home to roost after what they tried to do in conjunction with the American Left and its brainwashed Media. The attempt to leverage America has been stumped by the Loathsome Trump but the Loathsome Trump is still better than the wicked Left in America and the mercenary, backstabbing EUs intention to make the USA willfully decline just as they had all seemed to agree was inevitable. So then, when the time comes we will all know it. For the time being many in the world think the Ethno-states of the EU are a better democracy than the USA but in future, all the "stars" will align and the arch of their intentions and implications will be laid bare before the world. Good day!

This is just an assumption, but I think the journalist from the US has a wrong image on how discussion culture works. What does he expect? So many different countries and while we share many interests, it's of course not going to be easy. Every leader still has to represent their people and their interests. I rather have them discuss for a longer time, than just simply one or two countries over ruling all others and slap a concept on us, that is not thought-through.

After spending the whole interview speaking over the other guests, 13:28 is when Gammelin finally outright shows that she's just here to spout propanda. Of course EU states can enforce laws on other EU member states; it's just that the Framework leaves it up to the Member States to decide how they're going to write the law in and enforce it. The division of Pro/Anti EU comes down to how a person feels about that. If she were correct, the EU would be an utterly toothless figurehead incapable of anything – fortunately, she's not. There's plenty of good to talk about with the EU – stop playing into populist's hands by spouting bull like this!

Hay only when all are showing solidarity as asked by the wise 5 ….. reform change and stop corruption and go green as asked by the defenders of democracy the wise 5 as many on the street says ( not their own governments) …why do becoming undemocratic countries get so much money ..they should get less why do countries who never live up to th EU rules ( France biggest fails) demand so much they should be told no not this way as the UK and NL did before.
The new Brits are the NL ( dutch) good you need healthy opposition and not just followers ( we have seen that before ) and your commentary guy is very very biased( one day are you joking about billions )he is sick .

Nice discussion but they didn't discuss the real issues :
    1. The American is trying to compare this with the US which is not fair considering the president can control the country more than Germany or France can control besid all crying babies in the comment section.
    2. Many of the less fortunate states are happy to get payments but not willing commit to their promises and when challenged they speak about Germany hegomony and start making side issues like Poland, Hungary, the new Italian government

They keep repeating that the fact they came up with a deal shows the 27 are still United.. they seem very keen to give the impression all is well despite the very clear divisions – my interpretation is that the EU were able to either bully or bribe member states into agreeing and that they are in fact very disunited (but want to convince you otherwise). Long term I think this deal is going to help break up the EU – it effectively forces northern EU tax payers to permanently bail out southern EU states. Sooner or later resentment will build and things will get to breaking point.

That moment when the economic crisis' of capitalism pile up so high the Neo Liberal Elite realize they have to give up on their nonsensical economic world view or lose their power as leaders in the EU because the EU will die otherwise… And it only took the risk of certain death. Their own death… didn't matter when they saw everyone else suffer around them… It was their own suffering that motivated them to change. What's they say about them?
