GRAND BLANC TWP. — The Grand Blanc Chamber of Commerce sponsored a ribbon cutting ceremony to welcome one of the community’s newest businesses, Medi-Weightloss.

Kathy Brundle, owner, said the business, located at 9468 S. Saginaw Road, Suite B, offers medically-supervised, individually-designed weight loss programs.

“That’s what makes this program different,” said Brundle. “It’s a personalized program.”

Clients meet weekly with staff, which includes a nurse practitioner, physician’s assistant/nutritionist, and medical assistant, who review clients’ progress and revise strategies and goals.

“Each visit, they meet and design a program to work specifically for each patient,” said Brundle.

Clients are not required to purchase Medi-Weightloss products, “but we do have some wonderful products to satisfy the sweet tooth and salt cravings,” as well as soups, macaronic and cheese and more.

PA Janelle Davis, who also is a registered dietitian, provides nutrition counseling.

Diet and activity journals help clients hold themselves accountable for their nutrition and healthy living habits, she said.

“We review their journals … modify them as needed, and talk about challenges, slip-ups, things that make it hard to lose weight,” Davis said.

Medi-Weightloss staff take a three-pronged approach to healthy living, from initial weight loss to lifelong wellness.

“Where a lot of people go wrong is they think when they reach their goal, that’s the finish line,” said Davis. “That’s when people (gain the weight back). We teach them how to re-introduce calories once they get to the maintenance phase, and to transition to wellness. We tell our patients we just want them to be healthy; we care about their health goals.”

Brundle said her late mother inspired her to go into the weight loss business.

“Weight loss was always a passion of hers,” she said. “It left an impact on me. I don’t do well with diets on my own. I wasn’t happy with the choices in our area.”

Brundle started researching weight loss companies in 2019. She liked the way MediWeightloss’ program worked.

“It’s different than other weight loss companies,” she said.
