Social media reacts to 40 time

Editor's note: This story was updated to reflect that the NFL later confirmed that Xavier Worthy's career time was listed at 4.21, a new NFL combine record.

Texas football receiver Xavier Worthy reached a historic milestone at the NFL Combine on Saturday, officially setting the record for the fastest 40-yard dash in combine history with a 4.21 second run.

It was his second run of the day after turning in a similarly blistering 4.25 seconds on his first run of the day. Worthy's 40 time in his second race broke the 2017 mark set by former Washington catcher John Ross, who ran the event in 4.22 seconds. For years, that mark was the one to beat, until the Longhorns receiver broke it.
