As leading man Joel in TV sci-fi phenomenon The Last Of Us, Pedro Pascal has become a global star, with millions of young fans naming him their “ultimate daddy”.
He was born Jose Pedro Balmaceda Pascal in Chile, under dictator Augusto Pinochet's regime, and had to flee the country with his father Jose and the rest of the family.
Pedro’s mother Veronica, a child psychologist, supported his ambition to be an actor, but when he was 24, and yet to hit the big time, she took her own life.
The much-anticipated finale of The Last Of Us tonight sees Pedro's career reach a new high at the age of 47, after years of rather less exalted acting roles.
The star only got his big break aged 39, playing bisexual action man Oberyn Martell in Game Of Thrones in 2014.
Jon Favreau, the big-shot exec producer, director and actor signed Pedro for The Mandalorian, which helped Disney+ attract 26.5million subscribers in its first six weeks in 2019.
The Mandalorian is about to start filming its fourth series. Pedro also starred in Narcos, The Great Wall, Kingsman: The Golden Circle and Wonder Woman 1984.
