The San Javier municipal sports center has since yesterday “the largest publicly-managed Sports Fitness Center in the Region,” said the Councilor for Sports, Sergio Martínez, during the inauguration of the building that opened its doors in an act that was well represented. of the municipal sport world.

The mayor, José Miguel Luengo and the general director of Sports, Francisco Sánchez, accompanied by the councilor Sergio Martínez and the Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences, Jesús García Pallarés, inaugurated the new Center which was presented at full capacity, as as it will open its doors to the public from next July 3.

The Fitness Center, built within the San Javier Municipal Sports Center, has four rooms and a terrace, which will allow the municipal sports offer to continue expanding, said the mayor of Sports, Sergio Martínez.

The Center has a 450-square-meter weight room equipped with high-end machinery, divided into five zones. The room offers a cardio area with 18 machines with connectivity, TV, Internet and remote control for use during training and maintenance, as well as another area with bilateral and dual pulley machines.

It also has plate machines, a free weight area, and a group work area, a novelty that will allow group classes to be offered within the room itself. The ground floor is completed with two large male and female changing rooms, an automated access control and a multi-service kiosk that will allow users to make their reservations for the offered activities, among other procedures.

On the upper floor, the sports complex offers a 160-square-meter fitness room dedicated to low-intensity work, another 120-meter fitness room dedicated to high intensity, an 80-square-meter terrace, which has been prepared for activities outdoors and a state-of-the-art Indoor Cycle room.

The spinning room has 23 bicycles, ambient lighting with color changes, two 85-inch display screens and a gamification program as an added attraction.

Sergio Martínez recalled the difficulties that this new infrastructure has entailed, which has gone through the paralysis of the pandemic and the subsequent lack of supplies, and even the abandonment of the work by the first awarded company, in addition to the inflation caused by the War.

Martínez recalled the previous Sports councilors and thanked the entire team that “has finally made it possible for a new phase to begin today for this facility and we can provide a better service to the citizen.”

Mayor José Miguel Luengo highlighted the symbolic fact of starting the new legislature with this sports inauguration and promised to continue investing in Sports “because it is an investment in health and improvement in the quality of life of families and all residents.”

Thus, he advanced other sports infrastructures that are underway in the municipality, such as the upcoming construction of the large Sports Park in La Manga del Mar Menor, which includes a complex of outdoor facilities, next to the Estacio canal.

On the other hand, he announced that another new infrastructure will also be ready by the end of the summer, the stands and changing rooms, which will improve the conditions of use of the Santiago de la Ribera soccer field, which also serves the Faculty of Sports Sciences.

The general director of Sports, Francisco Sánchez, who praised the inaugurated facilities, announced other investments in sports in the municipality such as the conditioning of the athletics tracks, which already has 300,000 euros, and the construction of a sports pavilion at the Faculty of Sports Sciences, which has a budget of 1.2 million euros and will serve both the Faculty and the local population.
