Invima demands to withdraw Sascha Fitness products from the market and its owner defends herself: “I am an upright person, with great ethics and respect for others”

As ‘fraudulent’ were rated by the Invima (National Institute for Food and Drug Surveillance), some of the products offered on the portal Sascha Fitness Colecompany of the Venezuelan businesswoman Sascha Barboza. After the warning, that same entity ordered to withdraw them from the market. These are dietary supplements that, according to the agency, do not have their respective health registration, so their sale is illegal. What is behind the investigation?

What Sascha promises with her dietary supplements is improve the functioning of the immune system and increase the energy levels in the body. Likewise, within the objectives of consuming them is improving digestion.

In June, however, the Invima alerted to the lack of veracity in these products. According to what the magazine learned Week, thanks to the testimony of a source from the Medicines Directorate, it was the arrival of an anonymous complaint that made the entity put Barboza under the magnifying glass. On the morning of Sunday June 11, Barboza made public a thread of trills in which he explained what he feels behind the investigations against him.

“This complaint was filed on the institute’s website, where they reported on the marketing and promotion, through the Sascha Fitness Colombia websiteof dietary supplements without health records and with unapproved declarations,” commented the person who spoke to the aforementioned media outlet.

“Once the complaint is received, checked and analyzed. Depending on the type of product and the characteristics of the complaint, it is evaluated following the corresponding current health regulations. In the evaluation, it is verified if the product has registration or if the establishment that is listed as a manufacturer has authorization, and the pages and websites where they are being promoted and marketed are reviewed. From the result of these reviews health alerts are issued to protect the health of the populationwithin the framework of the Law 9 of 1979″, added the specialist to the magazine.

The product, says the National Institute for Food and Drug Surveillance, not a food, but it would have to be listed as a medicine. The products, when considered within the second mentioned category, They should have a different record.

What Invima also questions Sascha is that the labels of their products come in Englishwhich would be against the norm established by the Ministry of Health Colombian. Invima’s objections, however, are not valid for Barboza who, through their social networks, has ensured that their products they have all the requirements to be sold in the country up to date. In his Twitter account he wrote: “We have all the permits and records of Invima in fact since October 2019 with a validity of 5 years, I have all the supports of said documentation and health records.

“I think they should write things better, not even the photograph of the product they have in this tweet is the product in question they are talking about. Irregularities can come from the black marketor the plagiarism of products, but the legal import of my products with my official distributor has everything in order and as it should be”, he wrote in his profile.
