Need new white sneakers for spring? I’m a shopping writer, and these cushy Reeboks keep my feet happy all day

When it comes to footwear, I’d rather have a few timeless, comfortable pairs than a closet full of trendy shoes that are in style one season and deemed obsolete a few months later. White sneakers make the cut, and every year, as winter comes to an end, I make sure I have a pair clean enough to wear out in public for the start of spring. I’ve worn several brands over the years, but these Reebok Classic Leather Sneakers are my favorites so far. They’re lightweight, have a cushy footbed and are versatile enough to wear with jeans, shorts, skirts or dresses. Considering they start at just $49 at Amazon, they don’t break the bank, either.

Put some “spring” in your step with these warm weather essentials.

Since I live in a city, I walk almost everywhere, and having comfortable shoes is crucial. These Reebok sneakers have never let me down; I’ve worn them all over Manhattan, and even brought them on my Italian honeymoon where I probably clocked the most miles I’ve ever walked in a single day. My feet never felt sore, thanks to the cushioned midsoles, and I didn’t get any blisters. During one surprise downpour, the grippy outsoles kept me from slipping and sliding all over the sidewalk.

Another thing I love about these Reeboks is the fact that they’ve maintained their sort of retro, sporty-chic look without seeming dated. The leather uppers feel slightly elevated, allowing me to dress them up and down — which, by the way, also came in handy during my honeymoon, as I was able to wear them with practically everything I packed.

Of course, white sneakers are extremely scuff-prone. These are no exception, however, I’ve found that — because these are leather — Magic Erasers are pretty effective at removing those scuffs and keeping these sneakers looking fairly pristine.

I love my Reebok sneakers so much, I’ve Ree-ordered them several times. (Amazon)

I’m far from being their only enthusiast. Nearly 12,000 Amazon customers are so in love with these Reebok sneakers that they gave them a perfect five-star rating.

“I’ve been wearing these for a long time, well over 15 years,” shared one repeat buyer. “They are comfortable, well-made and last a long time. They can work well in a business casual environment when you do a lot of walking. I literally wear these every day and they usually last me a year or so. Once they get worn to the point of not looking appropriate for work, I retire them to casual use at home. So a pair can last me 2-3 years of service.”

“I am recovering from a broken ankle, and this shoe gives me the support I need to walk on that foot!” exclaimed another happy wearer. “Very pleased! Also, I like the look of the shoe!”

“Love these shoes!” gushed a final fan. “The shoes are a little stiff at first because of the newness, however, after a few times of wearing them, they are perfect!” (I can attest to this.)

White is classic for spring, but they come in black too!

And if you could use some new socks, this pack is also a favorite with Amazon shoppers:

These cushioned socks are popular because they give you a plush landing pad to make your feet feel comfortable step after step. Plus, the built-in arch compression means that annoying sock slippage is a thing of the past, and the moisture-wicking material helps keep your feet dry.

“They wash and wear well,” said one satisfied customer. “After at least 15 washes they’ve not lost their cushioning or compression abilities.” They went on to say, “They seem to help with foot fatigue and aching. I love wearing them when running or when I know I’ll be on my feet all day.”
