Paidesport plans to increase its revenue by 14% in 2023, up to eight million

Paidesport pulls muscle. The chain of gyms owned by Aurelio Gómez foresees increase its turnover by 14% in 2023going from seven million euros last year to eight million euros this year, according to CMD Sports.

The chain of gyms owned by Aurelio Gómez supports the growth of its billing in the increase in the number of partners. Currently, Paidesport has 34,000 subscribers, 8% more than the 31,500 members in 2022. The company’s management aims to reach the figure of 40,000 subscribers in December of this year.

Despite the fact that in the first two months of the year the chain has increased its year-on-year turnover, as of March, revenues have decreased compared to the same period of the previous yearfor issues such as the Euribor, energy costs, mortgages, the shopping basket, among others.

“With these cost increases, the consumer redirects his budgetary priorities”, has admitted the CEO of Paidesport Center, Aurelio Gómez, to the aforementioned media.

In mid-May 2022, the chain was forced to close the center it managed in the Aragonese capitaldue to the demolition of the Plaza Imperial shopping center, where the fitness center was located.

After the closure of his establishment in Aragon, Paidesport currently manages seven centers throughout Spain, located in La Ermita (Madrid), Corredor (Torrejón de Ardoz), Fuenlabrada, Parquesur (Leganés), Bassa (Alicante), Astur (Asturias) and Bonaire (Valencia). Among the seven, the company has a total area of 31,500 square meters.

Paidesport noted the impact of the pandemic caused by Covid-19 in its operating account and in its liquidity. In 2022, the company had to resort to loans guaranteed by the Official Credit Institute (ICO) to face the pandemic.

Despite the fact that the company has recovered pre-pandemic levels, the management leadership has admitted to the aforementioned medium that “the current scenario is increasingly competitive and that those brands with the greatest number of employees and, usually, with the greatest brand awareness end up having an impact on the evolution of the rest of the chain”.

The company, founded in 1985, operates with its own gyms, mainly located in shopping centers. Paidesport has 400 employees, thirty of them on file for temporary employment regulation (Erte) and the premises are between 3,000 square meters and 8,000 square meters. Gomez owns 99% of the company.
