The Brazilian Smart Fit lands in Spain with its yoga boutique Vidya Studio

The Brazilian giant Smart Fit sets foot in Spain and does so with one of its seven verticals, the one dedicated to yoga; Vidya Studio.

Leader in the fitness sector in Latin America, where it operates with more than 1,200 gyms, the Smart Fit Group is present in the international market with the low-cost banner of the same name, Smart Fit, as well as the Bio Ritmo and O2 brands. In addition, in recent years it has developed four vertical boutique stores dedicated to functional training (Raceboot Camp), muscle toning (Tonus Gym), boxing (Job House) and yoga (Vidya Studio).

First Vidya Studio in Spain

Precisely, the brand dedicated to the thousand-year-old body-mind discipline has been chosen by the Brazilian to make its debut in the Spanish market. A market in which there is a consolidated offer of yoga studios and whose greatest exponent is the banner of the Catalan group DiR, YogaOne, which operates with 54 studios in Spain.

Vidya Studio debuts with a first club in Madrid, located at number 10 Bárbara de Braganza street, in the Justicia neighborhood of the capital. The premises have an area of ​​500 m2 distributed over two floors, where two types of yoga are practiced, at room temperature (Hatha Yoga, Yoga with Props, Vinyasa, Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga) and at 40ºC, called Hot Yoga, in which Vinyasa Yoga is practiced.

European expansion

The studio is the second Vidya that Smart Fit has established in Europe, after having opened a first club in March, also in Lisbon, Portugal. Currently, the brand manages six stores, four of which operate under a franchise regime.

The one in Madrid is one of the 13 signed projects to be inaugurated in the coming months, not ruling out further growth in the Spanish market. “We want it to reach the big cities little by little and to be known and spread throughout the country,” says Agustina Numer, country manager at Vidya Studio.

Smart Fit proposes a franchise model for Vidya Studio with an investment starting at 840,000 reais (161,193 euros), with a canon of 90,000 reais (17,200 euros) and 8% royalties and 2% for marketing. The model calculates a monthly income of between 100,000 and 150,000 reais.

More than 4 million customers

Grupo Smart Fit landed in our market after closing the first quarter of 2023 with a total of 1,231 operational centers, exceeding 4 million customers globally, and with revenues of 982 million reais (180 million euros), a 58 % more than in the same period of 2022.

In addition to the low-priced Smart Fit brand, the Group operates another 27 clubs under the Bio Ritmo and O2 banners. In addition to 19 boutique studios distributed among the brands Vidya Studio (6, 4 of them franchises), Race Bootcamp (4 franchises), Job House (4, 1 of them franchise) and Tonus Gym (5, 3 of them franchises).
