Lizzo tells Huff Post that it is more than just about trying to be thin, or losing weight.

“I think a lot of people see a fat person that way and immediately just assume everything they are doing is trying to be thin. I’m not trying to be thin. I don’t ever want to be thin. The goal is always here.”

Lizzo went on to reveal the numerous health benefits that fitness has provided her in the recent years.

“Once I started working out for mental health, to have balanced mental health for endorphins, so that I don’t look at myself in the mirror and feel ashamed of myself and feel disgusted with myself, exercise has helped me shift my mind — not my body,” said Lizzo.

As Lizzo revealed, the best transformations are the ones only you can see. This is a very accurate statement, as transformations can take place in several different ways the most people don’t see. That can be shown during workouts, with cardio or strength improvements. The same can be said for someone’s mental health, who can see major improvements in that particular area as well.

Lizzo spoke to People about her progress in the gym.

“The best transformations are the ones only you can see,” she captioned the video. “Celebrate yourself.”

Lizzo went on to continue that her insecurities held her back. “Now let me tell you. I was always too insecure — well, not too insecure, but too self-conscious — to work out in shorts. Also my thigh meat chafes, so I was like, why do that?”

She continues, “But today I’m working out in shorts and I’m gonna keep it real with y’all: not much has changed, physically, about myself, but a lot has changed here, mentally. Here, emotionally. I accept myself. These shorts are a little long so they won’t chafe, but I’m doing it! Yay!”

For Lizzo, health comes in various forms, particularly on the inside. “Health is not just determined on what you look like on the outside. Health is also what happens on the inside — and a lot of y’all need to do a cleanse for your insides.”

Lizzo’s workout routine will always be debated, but evidentially, it has created a major shift in her life and one that has been positive.
