Justyn Vicky, an Indonesian bodybuilder, was performing a squat of at least 450 pounds with a spotter when he couldn’t finish the lift and fell, breaking his neck.

“Vicky failed to complete the lift and fell forward, cascading the weight bar off his shoulders and snapping his neck and head forward,” Bali Discovery reported.

According to Bali Express, the weight snapped Vicky’s head forward, breaking his neck and leading to compression of the nerves to his heart and respiratory systems.

Vicky was rushed to hospital, but could not be resuscitated.

The 33-year-old native of East Java, Indonesia, has more than 35,000 followers on Instagram.

The Paradise Bali Gym, where the accident occurred, mourned Vicky in a post on Instagram.

In a post from July, Vicky was seen demonstrating the squat with a trainer and added audio describing the exercise as “one of the most dangerous,” and that “done properly, a barbell squat is capable of producing degrees of muscle mass increase that cannot be produced by any other exercise … it’s dangerous as hell.”
