UAB basketball wins American Athletic Conference championship, earn No. 12 seed in NCAA March Madness tournament
FORT WORTH, Texas. (WBRC) – The UAB Blazers are American Athletic Conference Champions! In their first year as members of the AAC, the Blazers have punched their ticket to the NCAA March Madness tournament.
Led by Alejandro Vásquez, who scored a team-high 29 points, the Blazers defeated the Temple Owls 85-69.
In what was a phenomenal performance in the AAC tournament, Yaxel Lendeborg, who was named ACC Defensive Player of the Year last week, was named MVP of the AAC tournament.
After winning the AAC tournament, the Blazers learned they will be the No. 12 seed in the East Region of the NCAA Tournament, facing No. 5 seed San Diego State.
