Elche puts out to tender the construction of a sports hall for 11.8 million

Elche is looking for a company to build a sports hall. This is the Palacio de Deportes in the Carrús neighbourhood, which has gone out to tender for 11.8 million euros. Raising the enclosure will cost 4.6 million euros more than initially planned due to the increase in costs and construction materials compared to the moment in which the budget for the infrastructure was made.
The pavilion, which will be built on a plot of more than 10,500 square meters, will have a capacity for 3,000 spectators, although only 1,500 places will be fixed. The rest will be a removable stand. The enclosure will be distributed over two floors. A 2,382-square-meter sports court will be located on the ground floor, in addition to lobbies, eight changing rooms and reception, four warm-up rooms and a gym. On the top floor of the building, space will be provided for additional stands, including 20 seats reserved for people with reduced mobility.
The project contemplates that this building is prepared to host all kinds of inclusive sports events, as it will be fully accessible. In addition, it will be a sustainable building, which will generate the lowest possible energy cost.
Elche Town Hall received a European grant of 3.6 million euros from Edusi to start up this installation with the lowest possible energy consumption, but this subsidy is conditional on the completion of the works before December 31st. The expected execution period is 14 months, so that if the local executive fails to extend the execution period of the European call, it will have to assume with its own funds both the extra cost and the help that it will not obtain.
