Kayla Itsines has revealed the reason why she decided to aim her fitness training program at women.
The fitness influencer and entrepreneur, 32, told the Australian Financial Review she had a bad experience with a male client when she was 18 and training people in their homes.
‘I rocked up to this guy’s house and he opened the door, wearing normal clothes, not exercise clothes,’ she explained.
‘Alarm bells, immediately. I was going through the consent form and he was staring at me. It was very scary.’
The trainer then told the man she needed to get something from her car and never returned.
She then started to only train female clients.
Kayla went on to create programs for women including her Bikini Body Guide with her ex-fiancé Tobi Pearce and her fitness app Sweat.
In 2021, Kayla’s sale of her company Sweat – formerly known as Bikini Body Guide – to U.S. software giant iFIT propelled her net worth to $164million.
This was enough to place her 39th on the 2021 Young Rich List, just one spot ahead of her business partner and former fiancé – Tobi, who had a similar net worth.
The annual list, compiled by the Australian Financial Review, ranks the wealthiest Australians aged 40 and under.
Kayla and Tobi launched Sweat in 2015 as an ebook, before the company grew into an app-based online community with more than 50 million users worldwide.
